Its territory also includes a steppe plateau with rich paleontology treasures, spreading up to the Andes Mountains transforming into forests areas in the center of the province.

The route from the Andes to the coast presents diverse alternatives, crossing natural and cultural attractions, incredibly rural sceneries splashed by valleys of particular beauty.

From west to east the route crosses the localities of Gualjaina and Paso del Sapo. The Provincial Route Nº 12 or borders the Plateau of Somuncur along with the oasis of Telsen at the Provincial Route Nº 4 to come to the city of Puerto Madryn and from there to the Low Valley of Rio Chubut (Rawson. Trelew. Gaiman and Dolavon), the most popular region of the province.

From the city of Trelew, the eco travel tour can include the Peninsula Valdes and the fabulous "pinguinera" at Punta Tombo with more than half a million penguins. Heading east, we find the provincial Capital, the City of Rawson. The emergence of both cities is tied to the first Welsh immigrations.

At few kilometers from the capital, at the mouth of Rio Chubut, are the premises of Port Rawson with its important fishing activities.

Outskirts, Playa Union offers wide beaches resorts for enjoyment of their residents and visitors.

67 kilometers to the North of Trelew, Puerto Madryn is a tourist center with extensive beaches, especially when the tide is low, reaching more than 200 meters width. The coastal area of transparent and cold waters is ideal for the practice of diving, sport fishing, windsurfing, sailing and eco travel tours. It is provided with an excellent hotels and high standard restaurants offering a varied menu of exquisite fresh seafood. With animated night life, pubs and dance places, the city is mostly populated January and February, when Argentineans, mostly young people, spend there the summer beaches vacation.

From Puerto Madryn it is possible to hire jaunts to all the corners of the beaches corridor, such as Puerto Piramides, a small town with a beautiful bay surrounded with a natural magnificent environment, which is a paradise for divers, and where boats depart for sightseeing of the whales.

A sanctuary of natural life protected by a system of natural reserves as Punta Norte, Caleta Valdes and Punta Delgada, (the only reproductive continental spots of this species in the world), the seal beaches of Punta Piramides and the Island of The Birds.

The Southern Right Whale comes every year to Golfo Nuevo and Golfo San Jose which mark the silhouette of the Peninsula, constituting one of the most popular attractions of the region.
